Cedars-Sinai Exhibit

ROLE: Lead Designer

CHALLENGE: To create a permanent exhibit that told the 110-year history of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and how its story was intertwined with the history of Los Angeles.

SOLUTION: Drawing inspiration from subway maps, each of the storylines are plotted along a timeline and indicated by two different colored panels, blue and chartreuse. The main brand color, red, is used at the point of the merger of the two hospitals that became Cedar-Sinai.

Large scale dates and main story panels indicated each new hospital established, along with renderings and location maps for each building.

The back wall is reserved for prominent happenings in the history of Los Angeles, while key medical events, like the flu pandemic, are integrated into the hospitals’ storylines by using corresponding color graphics.

The four focuses of the institution’s mission (Community, Patient Care, Research, and Innovation) are highlighted on intersecting pillars, which also display relevant artifacts from the hospital’s archives.
